Chartered on August 1, 1880, the Portuguese Society of America (PFSA) is the result
of the Merger of four great societies:
- Conselho Supremo da Irmandade do Divino Espirito Santo do Estado da Califórnia (Supreme
Council of I.D.E.S.)
- Conselho Supremo da Sociedade do Espirito Santo do Estado
da Califórnia (Supreme Council of S.E.S.)
- Conselho Supremo da União Portuguesa
do Estado da Califórnia (Supreme Council of U.P.E.C.)
- Conselho Supremo da União Portuguesa Protectora do Estado da Califórnia (Supreme
Council of U.P.P.E.C.)
As a Society, we are committed to draw together families of Portuguese-American and
other nationalities in the states of California, Nevada and elsewhere in the United States
of America; to promote Portuguese–American cultural, social, fraternal, and charitable
activities to our members, their families, and others; to issue life insurance, annuity
certificates and other products for the protection and benefit of our members and their
dependents.
Being the oldest Portuguese Fraternal Benefit Society domiciled in California, we as a
Society are proud of the dreams and vision of our forefathers. We want to honor their
vision by succeeding and meeting the challenges of the XXI century.
Our Mission is:
